What Type of Newborn Baby Clothes Do You Really Need?

When you shop for a newborn baby, you need to be sure that the newborn baby clothes you buy are practical, safe and sensible.

But this doesn’t mean that the clothes you buy for a newborn infant need to be purely utilitarian. Nowadays there are some superb designer newborn baby clothes that will suit every possible infant, irrespective of sex, size or shape.

Even good old fashioned babygrows take on a new look with the unique newborn baby clothes that are available today. For example you can buy little items that look like mini kimonos, or tee shirts. Since these don’t feature long leggings or a foot covering (in other words the basic footed pants which are probably the most well known unisex newborn baby clothes around), they are generally more suitable for summer weather.

But there are countless designs that do feature basic footies, and of course the leggings that go with them. Some are plain, while others are purely colorful. There are stripes and spots and prints, some fitting the description “newborn baby boy clothes” with others being better suited to baby girls.

Other designer newborn baby clothes include tiny tee shirts, fleece hoodies, pants and pant sets, and pretty little dresses and rompers (that the baby will grow into). While many parents like to dress their babies in designer baby clothes, it is wise to remember just how fast babies grow. If you think about it you will realize that just every three months, you are going to need a bigger size for your little one. But these designer items are a lot of fun for special occasions, and of course for those precious family photographs that you will look at over and over again.

Here is a list of newborn baby clothing that will help you to get organized and well prepared for your new unborn baby boy or girl. You will need:

  • vests and undershirts
  • bodysuits or baby grows
  • warm mini sweaters
  • baby grows or sleepers
  • socks
  • soft booties
  • baby caps
  • mittens
  • bibs
  • baby sleeping bags
  • diapers
  • shawls
  • a baby blanket (ore more) / receiving blankets

Generally whatever newborn baby clothes you decide to buy, you need to be sure that they are made from soft fabrics that are gentle on the skin. For this reason many mums prefer to use organic cotton and clothing made from other organic fibers, like wool.

Also consider other accessories for your baby’s room such as suitable toddler furniture and outdoor items you are going to need frequently including a baby stroller (or a twin stroller if you have twins!)
